The Gift of Education Changes EVERYTHING

Many hill tribe children in northern Thailand lack access to education. Joy to the World Foundation Thailand addresses this by providing educational support through Breanna's House of Joy, which helps girls excel in school, and the Daniel 1 Leadership Program, which offers scholarships and career support for higher education. These programs empower students to break the cycle of poverty and build better futures for themselves and their communities.
In Northern Thailand, just 51% of hill tribe children enroll in primary education (compared to the national average of 89%), while only 1 in 4 complete their secondary education. At Joy to the World Foundation Thailand, we believe that the only proven way to provide long-term change for these children is through higher education, which leads to better jobs and more security.
"We believe education is the foundation for developing quality of life," says Mawin Tharath, our Daniel 1 Leadership Manager. "It is the origin of a good future, so opportunity is an important word."
From the girls in Breanna's House of Joy to the young adults in the Daniel 1 Leadership Program, we are using the priceless tool of education to help break the cycle of poverty, both for themselves and the next generation of young people.
An Educational FOUNDATION through Breanna's House of Joy
Education is a key component of Breanna's House of Joy. Each girl registered in our program has access to quality education, building a strong foundation from which they can launch into higher education, breaking the bonds of poverty.
We are so proud that the girls in BHJ thrive academically, with above-average grades! If our students struggle, we make sure they have access to tutoring, and each girl is encouraged to participate in drawing, painting and music classes.
"Education changes children’s lives, freeing them from hardship and not having to live the same life as their family," says Aon Wongthaweesawang, manager for Breanna's House of Joy. "Children will be in a good environment and will receive support from society, and will have the opportunity to choose a better path in life in the future."
Our generous supporters make it possible for us to provide for tuition, school lunches, uniforms, school supplies and extracurricular activities.
LONG-TERM Change through Education in our D1 Leadership Program
The Daniel 1 Leadership Academy serves students from the hill tribe villages, where many families do not have the funding or access for education expenses. This foundation values education and provides the funds and resources to support students who would normally not have the opportunity to pursue a college education or vocational training.
All of our D1 students have support in finding internships and making the most out of their college experience. Investing in their studies is investing in their long-term life and career goals!
"Some families do not have enough income, so children may have to drop out of school to work," says Mawin. "Providing scholarships helps them stay in the education system. It is also a way to give back to society in the long run. Children who are given the opportunity to study often grow up to be quality people and return to create benefits for society. Providing scholarships is not just helping one child, but also laying the foundation for the future of the country.”
Because of generous donors, these students are able to complete their education with no student debt, enabling them to not only break the cycle of poverty but to bring their families out of poverty and into freedom!
By providing educational opportunities for each child and student in our care, we are developing their God-given knowledge and wisdom to their fullest potential so that they might become producers and influencers in Thailand.
